Meet Sara Beth Ward and her rescue dog Kylie!

sara_kyliesarah

Tragically, Sara died in a car accident last week at the age of only 22.  In her family's grief they knew Sara would want people to know about her passion for animals.  They asked their family and friends to donate to Georgia Humane Society in her memory.  We were touched by their generosity and began searching for a dog to save in her honor.  Beside Sara and Kylie's picture is the dog we chose or we should say the dog that chose us.
We named her Sarah and she is a black lab mix that was in a high kill shelter, very ill and on her last day.  Our volunteer took her home and nursed her back to health.  She will be spayed and ready for her new life very soon.
We can't imagine the sorrow Sara's family and friends must feel but we do hope in saving this sweet little dog in her memory it will bring some comfort to them.

A Happy Tail for one of our puppy mill puppies!

ell Hi to all my furry friends back at Georgia Humane!  I miss you guys and hope you have been adopted by some really nice families.  I am sorry I am late writing but there has been so much new stuff to see and do.  I have a brother!  We are nearly the same  age and have SOooooo much fun playing.  We love to run around our fenced yard chasing eachother and taking turns being "it."  Mom bought us both some new toys to play with but I am very lucky. My brother likes to share his. Sometimes we both walk side by side with the same Kong bone in our mouths. It makes Mom laugh so hard. Thank you for helping me find my FURever home...  Luv, Teddy

Lily turns 8 and raises over $300 for Georgia Humane Society!

Once again, Lily's birthday was "gift free" as she had her friends and family donate money to the humane society. Last year Lily raised over $200 but this year she raised $340 to help the homeless pets in Georgia. Lily and her family also help with adoptions on the weekends and just a few months ago they adopted a puppy named Amelia. Lily is our youngest hero and we are so proud of her selfless attitude and commitment to helpless animals.
Thanks again, Lily!!!

DOGS FROM LD FARMS CRUELTY CASE
AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ADOPTION!

The dogs pictured above are just a few of over 95 dogs that are available for pre-adoption through Georgia Humane Society(GHS) and Clover Run Rescue(CRR).  There are many different small breed dogs of all ages.  On April 17th, 2008 a judge in Jackson Country ruled that the 274 dogs from LD Farms were to be sold to pay the expenses incurred for their care while waiting for the case to go to trial.  These dogs lived in the most deplorable conditions you can imagine at LD Farms and didn't even know what grass was.  Puppy mill dogs live in small wire crates with no exposure to humane touch or the outside world. GHS and CRR have spent the last two months grooming,  vetting, caring for many medical needs, socializing and just giving these wonderful dogs love.  They are all thriving and have adjusted very well to their new lives.  Now, we are ready for the next step in getting them into loving furever homes!  If you are interested in adopting one of these exceptional dogs please fill out and submit an application by clicking the Applications link to the left.  You can either email or fax it to us. Due to the large number of dogs, please be patient with us as we go through the application process with each dog. If you are interested in donating to help with the enormous expenses that we've incurred and are still incurring for their care, please click the Donate Now link and indicate Cruelty Dogs.
